Intensive practice on 1st and 2nd person ![]() Pronoun Perspective: This all-new program is designed for children who struggle with 1st and 2nd person pronouns. It is especially appropriate for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) who are still having difficulty with 1st and 2nd person after using LanguageLinks: Syntax Assessment and Intervention. Product Description![]() For example, two characters are presented on the screen and one of them has a shiny bike. The computer will then ask, “Who says…My bike is shiny,” or “Who says…Your bike is shiny.” The student as a third person observer must be able to identify which character would use the 1st person and which the 2nd person form. This approach differs from and complements the approach used for teaching 1st and 2nd person pronouns in Laureate’s LanguageLinks. In those programs there is just one character on the screen and the student is always the second person. Overall, Pronoun Perspective: 1st and 2nd Person trains all of the 1st and 2nd person pronoun forms from a third person perspective. Providing this additional perspective can be critical for students with pragmatic difficulties. How it works... Using Laureate’s Optimized Intervention® technology, the program begins with an assessment to determine where to begin training. As the student works, the software continually monitors his or her responses and uses this information to provide highly individualized language intervention. When the student masters both forms in a module, the program automatically moves to the next module. Pronoun Perspective features extensive data collection to document student performance and ensure accountability. Comprehensive reports are automatically generated at the end of each session allowing speech-language pathologists and special educators to quickly and easily review a student’s progress over time.
