The Talking Series

These programs encourage children and adults with speech or language impairments to express themselves. They provide an interactive environment for language exploration and communication exchange.

Product Description:
Talking Nouns I, Talking Nouns II, and Talking Verbs give children and adults with language impairments the ­opportunity to communicate. Users simply select a word, phrase, or picture to make the computer speak. Corresponding pictures of nouns or verbs appear on the screen.

Versatile teaching tools
These programs offer a variety of activities that reinforce vocabulary comprehension, teach the formation of grammatically correct sentences, improve visual discrimination, and develop conversational turn-taking. They also offer an economical way to train skills needed to use a dedicated augmentative communication device.

Five activities build communication skills. Interactive Communication - Single Touch Activation In this activity, the computer says each word as it is selected. - Sequenced Activation In this activity, the computer speaks only after a phrase or sentence has been constructed, The program automatically includes the correct article or verb form so that every phrase or sentence spoken is grammatically correct. Word Identification The computer says a word and the user must find the corresponding picture and/or text. Word Matching A picture and/or text appears on the monitor and the user is asked to find the one that matches it. Exploration Users choose nouns or verbs and the computer names them. The “Show” button can be turned on to introduce sequencing.
