Who Will Benefit
From the Language Development Packages?
A wide range of students can benefit from using the programs in these packages. Level 1 focuses on early vocabulary
and concept development with a transition to syntax.
Level 2 includes training in basic syntactic forms and structures, building a narrative perspective, and connecting
nouns with the sounds they make.
In addition to its use with students who have language disorders, Level 2 is ideal for addressing the needs of kindergarten
and 1st grade children at risk for reading failure in schools using the Response to Intervention (RTI) model of service
delivery. Classroom use of these programs helps children master the sentence forms and structures necessary for the
development of communication competence and reading comprehension.
The development and field-testing of our Sterling Edition programs were supported by a series of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
